Various speakers, Mark 3:22 - 3:26, 27 July 2020

The religious leaders accuse Jesus of being from Satan, rather than from God. See what his answer is to that with Pete and Dean.
Mark 3:22-26

Mark 3:22 - 3:26

22 And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem were saying, “He is possessed by Beelzebul,” and “by the prince of demons he casts out the demons.” 23 And he called them to him and said to them in parables, “How can Satan cast out Satan? 24 If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25 And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand. 26 And if Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but is coming to an end.

Welcome to Corona Chronicles. Is Jesus evil? I mean, is he of the devil? I mean, that is how radical Jesus is because he says things that cause people to say, he's gotta be satan. I mean, it's just amazing, isn't it?

That's that's the sort of Jesus we're looking at. And now we've seen that that Mark often talks in sort of sandwiches. You have a piece of bread, the meat in the middle, and a piece of bread. And we've dealt with the out side pieces of bread in the in the last growing protocols. We're now beginning to open up the meat in the middle, and we there are several layers We're gonna deal with 1 layer of meat today, and then you'll think of it.

B o t. Right? Yeah. It is a b o t. Right.

There you go. It's verse 22. And the teachers of the law who came down from Jerusalem said He is possessed by Beelzeboth by the prince of demons he is driving up demons. So Jesus called them over to him and began to speak to them in peril. How can satan drive out satan?

If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. And if Satan opposes himself and is divided, he cannot stand. His end has come. Right.

So, I mean, this is amazing, isn't it? I said be your tea. That's bacon lettuce tomorrow. This is more like bacon bacon bacon. It is.

Yeah. Different layers of me. Although, this is a Jewish context, and I don't think they'd die. But it is interesting, isn't it, because we saw last time that his a parent. His family, yeah, his mother and his brothers and sister, calling him out of his mind.

Yeah. They're wanting to take control of And he said that that his real family are those who listen to the word of God. But here's the religious leaders, and they're going sort of 1 step further, aren't they? Yeah. They're right.

It's not only out of his mind. He's a demon. Yeah. He's of Satan. Yeah.

And that's He's prince the prince of demons. Yeah. Right? Yeah. It's not just like a, you know, low level.

Yeah. He's saying, this is the top dokey. Yeah. Yeah. And and and and that and that where it says he's possessed by Belsiebelle.

You have to go back to the old testament to see, you know, that was sort of, you know, pagan worship of this satanic god. And it means lord of the flies. And where do you get flies? Around death? Yeah.

Dead bodies or dog muck or fields or, you know. Yeah. So what they're saying is, Jesus, you're filth. Your lord of filth. Your lord of death.

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. But that's it. Come over it.

Yeah. Coming over coming over smell. Yeah. Yeah. Look, come come come come close and let's see if there are any flies.

Yeah. Right? But what what what what Is there any reason to think that Jesus is this evil? None whatsoever? I mean, what so he's only ever brought life, isn't he?

Yeah. Yeah. I mean, in Mark itself, the only time we've heard the word death is, you know, from the pharisees, wanting to kill him. They wanna kill him. Yeah.

In chapter 3, verse 6, they wanna already kill him. So that's the only the only the only person who can be, you know, have that title of, you know, beelzebub, prince of demons is is the pharisees themselves. And this is not interesting with psychology of people. Mhmm. The very thing they do they they seem to sort of transfer onto someone else.

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And that's just what we're like, isn't it? We we we hate something, and yet we're fifth of every ones that are bringing death -- Yeah.

-- and we start saying, I'm not listening to him. Yeah. These of the devil. Yeah. It's it's the totally opposite -- Yeah.

-- way around. You know, we always get things backwards. And that's that's what sin is, isn't it? It's it's a it's a turning on its head of Yeah. God's order.

Yeah. Right? So, you know, and and that's what he goes on to say, look, you are not talking sense. You're you're not being rational here. No.

You know, you you know, how can how can death come from life? The only thing I've ever done is bring life. Yeah. Know, he's using me. He's been in the office.

He's pushed out the law of the flight. Yeah. He's he's healed people. He's I mean, he's spoken to the you know, it has spoken to demons with authority and told them to shut up. Yeah.

You know? Well, so that was the last thing wasn't it? It was 1 of the last things. Yeah. He told them to shut up.

Yeah. Because he has authority over them. Exactly. And and they're called unpure spirits. Right.

And yet he was bringing impure people -- Yeah. -- to know him. So we saw that the leper have been healed. Yeah. You know, that's pushing it.

It's funny, isn't it? I mean, even the even the demons that we've seen in this in in in the up till now, they know better than the pharisees. You know? They may they know who Jesus is. Yeah.

And the pharisees, they they said you are the son of god. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, it's interesting we we're we're just putting up a a a thing locally on on the on the Facebook. Yeah.

That's true to tell stuff. True truth truth to tell. And it's just it's just sort of the basics of the Christian faith. And I put it up on a neighborhood group in Kingston. And immediately a bloke comes back with a picture of satan.

So this is Laura. Yeah. And I think when we when we say the truth of Jesus -- Yeah. -- people haven't got any option. And they talk nonsense.

Yeah. And that's what's happening here. They can't explain in their world view -- Yeah. -- that Jesus is the son of God. And so they have to then start shouting Nazi or, you know, or -- Yeah.

-- you know, I'm not gonna listen to you. You're you're of Satan, and and it's not reasonable -- No. -- is it totally. Yeah. Yeah.

So okay. What did what what's his answer then? Well, he he he basically says, look, how can you know, if if I'm driving out the incomes, if I'm if I'm pushing back death, how can I be the lord of death? You know? A house that is divided against itself, cannot stand.

It's just you know, he's just saying, look, you know, this this this doesn't make sense, you know. If if if an army goes into battle and it's it's squabbling amongst themselves. If a football team, you know, you know, a modern sort of demonstration, if if a football team is is trying to win a game, but -- Yeah. -- the defenders are all rocking each other, blaming each other for, you know, miss exactly what yeah. Exactly.

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. They're they're done for. Yeah.

And it's just It just it's it makes sense, doesn't it? Yeah. If if you're if you're divided, you're, you know, you're you're you're looking you're you're lost. Lost. That's what he's saying.

And then it points back to him, doesn't it? Because he's the 1 that is expelling satan. Yeah. So there's another kingdom here. Yeah.

Yeah. So he can't be of that kingdom. Yeah. He's the 1 that's expelling disease and bringing, you know, even Levi who was a, you know, seen as a sinful man into his membership into his family and yeah. Yeah.

I mean, that's the the closest you can come to to saying like, the pharisees have got a a leg to stand on is that he has been he's been inviting sinners and tax collectors. Yeah. To himself. But he's been grabbing from there. Yeah.

Tiento. From the Kingdom of safety, he hasn't been going into that and being influenced. No. You know, he's been taking them from darkness to light, which is what Jesus is all about, isn't it? So he's the rescue of darkness to light.

Yeah. So some really good stuff here. I guess, worth finishing there, and we're gonna carry on with another piece of -- Yeah. -- bacon. 1 of my favorite stories of mine.

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Of course. But I think the question is, who who do you think Jesus is?

And have you really investigated him? Because even the demons think that he is the son of God. That if he is, you can't you can't, you know, you can't just it's like Lewis, isn't it? You can't just say, oh, he's a nice flop him off. Yeah.

Yeah. He is either evil -- Yeah. -- or he's a loony -- Yeah. -- or he is the large tech. Well, we'll come back.

See you see you next time.
