Various speakers, Revelation 16:16 - 16:21, 12 May 2020

Listen to Pete and Ben discuss the last battle between God and his enemies - will you be one of the ones raging against him or will you be in the place of peace? Episode 42 focuses on Revelation 16 verses 16-21.

Revelation 16:16 - 16:21

16 And they assembled them at the place that in Hebrew is called Armageddon.

17 The seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air, and a loud voice came out of the temple, from the throne, saying, “It is done!” 18 And there were flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder, and a great earthquake such as there had never been since man was on the earth, so great was that earthquake. 19 The great city was split into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell, and God remembered Babylon the great, to make her drain the cup of the wine of the fury of his wrath. 20 And every island fled away, and no mountains were to be found. 21 And great hailstones, about one hundred pounds each, fell from heaven on people; and they cursed God for the plague of the hail, because the plague was so severe.

Welcome back to the Corolla Chronicles. We're in chapter 16 of the book of Revelation. We've had 6 out of the 7 bowls of God's wrath. And we have seen most recently the kind of demonic forces in the world trying to rally the people against God. And then we get to verse 16.

We're gonna be really from. Then they gathered the kings together to the place that in Hebrews called armageddon. The seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air. And out of the temple came a loud voice from the throne saying it is done. Then there came flashes of lightning rumblings, peels of thunder and a severe earthquake.

No earthquake like it has ever occurred since mankind has been on her, so tremendous was the quake. The great city split into 3 parts and the cities of the nations collapsed. God remembered Babylon on the great, and gave her the cup filled with the wine of the fury of his wrath. Every island fled away and the mountains could not be found. From the sky huge hailstones, each weighing about 40 kilograms fell on people, and they cursed God on account of the plague of hail.

Because the plate was so terrible. Well, here's here's the word armageddon. I mean, there are films about this and books written about it. Them. And it's, you know, it's the end of the world, and it is the end of the world here.

This is this is the end of the planet. And I mean, just to say, I mean, that's why revelation doesn't end here. It comes with a new creation. So there is great there is great hope, but this is the end of the planet. We we won't make heaven on earth.

But I think the thing that it strikes me is that people go on about armageddon and there's a massive battle, all the forces of evil against God and -- Yes. You tend to think it's gonna go on for years and battling fighting away. And and it starts off like that, doesn't it? Then then they gathered the kings together. So so everybody that is against God is gathered together.

We're seen there against God. And and at the place in Hebrew that's called armageddon. And then it's over. It's done. God says, I'm gonna just destroy.

Yep. There's massive earthquakes, everything's disrupted. That's it. Yep. There isn't a battle.

No. Because you can't battle god. No. I think that's the thing that gets me about atheists. They're so bullshit aren't they very often, you know, certainly the modern ones.

They're they're very not everyone. But they're often very bossy. I've got something to say to God. We're in battle against God, you know. And there there is no battle.

That's it. And they've been they've been rallied though. That's the thing that these people have been lied to. We This is why we have to speak truth to them. Isn't it?

And we need That's why there's something like this is so important that we go through scripture and actually sort of expound it and tell people what what God is saying because they have listened to the false prophets. Yeah. You know, then they gathered the kings together. We said, the false prophets are rallying people against God, making them hate him and and building up this picture that they're gonna win. Yeah.

But of course, or or or the false prophets us us are sort of saying things like peace. Pete, 1 of their big phrases is peace. Peace. Mhmm. And God says there is no peace.

Yeah. You know, oh, we're alright. Gotta be alright. You know? Yep.

And 1 of the reasons we're reading this is because actually, we want we do want to bless our nation. We want to bless the UK -- Yeah. -- and the people that are hearing this. And a real blessing is to say, no, these are the real truths. Mhmm.

This world is coming to an end. Mhmm. And if you're not with Christ, you're not in the place of blessing. Yep. You're in the place of destruction and curse -- Yeah.

-- and hell. Yeah. So come, please -- Yeah. -- come to the place of blessing. Yeah.

That that's really what these warnings are saying. Yeah. I mean, even that song that's been doing the rounds, the the the lyrics to that are the lord turn his face towards you. But it implies the Lord space is not towards you at the moment. It's not.

So there is a warning in that. It's a nice song and it's nice to share and makes you feel good. But even within that, which is scripture, of course, the lord's face is not towards you, but you you you need him to turn his face towards you. Yes. There is no peace So come to him -- Yeah.

-- so that he would turn his face towards you. And then those words of that song, that blessing are are for God's people only. Yes. So you're so so so if you're in the UK and you're not under the blood of Christ, you're in the place of destruction and curse. Mhmm.

You're amongst the army that thinks you can oppose the real the real god. Yeah. But you try and battle God, and in the end, God is God. Yeah. Because there is only 1 god and he he will have his way.

Yeah. And the the great city is completely destroyed, isn't it? It's not even like there's a remnant left fighting -- No. -- that's split into 3 parts. So it's it's breaking in multiple places.

Yeah. It's completely shattered. It's collapsed. It's it's it's like the twin towers, isn't it? It's been hit and it's gone to just 4.

Yeah. And And and again, you know, I mean, our cities are amazing if if you have had to drive through your city. It's it's it's a ghost town. I mean, the rolling stones have have just produced a new song, a ghost living in a ghost town. And and and the the film for their new song is all the city of London.

There's no 1 there. Right. And so in a sense, this there's a hint of what is to come. Yeah. All our economics, you know, all of our jobs, all of the things we've lived for, we're gonna come collapsing down.

It's gonna be a ghost in a ghost town. But God is doing this to bring a new kingdom in where there is that shining face. Mhmm. Perhaps we'll leave it there.
