Reasons to Give
A church needs financial backing just like any other organisation or project does, but as we are not a business we rely solely on the free offerings of others.
To function as a church we need money: we employ two Pastors who we desperately need to feed us and grow us from God’s Word in order that we continue living as Christians; we rent The Hub from which we run our outreach events, socials and where we teach others the gospel; we rent Bedelsford School each Sunday from where we hold our church services; we run events which can include buying food, printing fliers and other things to get people along to and tell them the gospel.
Who should give
We only ask our regular church members to give money towards our church work. We don’t have a collection during services because we do not want to ask newcomers or visitors for money. Although we do have a collection for our Hardship Fund at our monthly prayer meeting. Regular church members can download and fill in this Giving Form.
It is also possible to give to the work of Cornerstone Church at either of the links below:
1% Giving Appeal
The current recession has been affecting people, businesses and charities across the UK, and unfortunately our church and the Co-Mission network is no exception. Since our church was planted we have never been self-sufficiently financed but have instead been mostly funded by the Co-Mission. This now cannot continue.
We have therefore set a plan in place to try to close our deficit by £20,000 a year and become self sufficient by 2015. The fairest way we can gather the money from our regular members is to ask them to increase their giving by 1% of their total income.
So for example, those receiving £12,000 per annum would give an extra £120 to the church each year (which is £10 per month; £2.50 per week); or those receiving £50,000 per annum would give an extra £500 each year (which is £41.67 per month; £10.42 per week). If each giving unit within the church can do this, then we should reach our target.
Regulars should send an email to the Co-Mission Treasurer, Stephen Hatherall at stephen[at]dundonald.org if you are able to increase your giving by 1%, or speak to Phil Cooper if not, so that we can know if we are likely to reach our target and plan accordingly.
