If you‘re a regular reader of the Cornerstone blog you might be thinking: ‘Haven’t I seen this entry before?’ Sort of.I wrote a similar post in the run up to our ‘soft launch’ on May the 12th 2014.

So why write another one? For two reasons:

To share some news from the past four months.

To drum up some excitement for our official launch on September the 28th.

An Update

Over the past 4 months the Lord has been very kind and there’s a huge amount to be thankful for.

There’s an enthusiastic, godly core team at the heart of the Church, we’ve had a couple of local Christians join us, we’ve put on some evangelistic events for the community, we’ve welcomed visitors who don’t yet follow Jesus, we’re just about to finish our first Bible teaching series in Colossians AND we’ve got a couple of people signed up for our first evangelistic course in October.

As I said, there’s a lot of be thankful for.

However, over the past four months we’ve also been praying for and working towards our ‘Official Launch’ as part of the Co:Mission Antioch Plan.

The Antioch Plan

In the book of Acts, chapter 11 Luke, the author of the book records the first time that Christians tried to plant a church amongst the Greeks of Antioch. God blessed their efforts and this church subsequently became a base for cross-cultural ministry to the world.

The Antioch plan takes its name from this section of the Bible and by God’s grace, it hopes to plant 10-15 Churches across Greater London in the next few years with resources and support from the Co:Mission network.

We’re excited to be part of this plan and we’re very thankful to Cornerstone Church, Kingston for supporting us, training us and sending us to Teddington.

Over the past few weeks we’ve been distributing flyers, knocking on doors, advertising on the internet and inviting friends to join us in the Sea Cadet Hut for our ‘Official Launch Service’ on Sunday the 28th of September at 5.30pm.

And why do we want to plant a Church?

Because after Jesus had risen from the dead he said to his small band of followers:  “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age,” (Matthew 28. 18-20).

This is the reason we want to plant a new Church in Teddington. So that local people can hear the good news about Jesus Christ and come to know Him as their Lord and Saviour.

Please join us in praying that God would use Cornerstone Teddington to reach as many people as possible with this amazing news.
